Memorial Day

When you’ve been in combat you see a bond of brotherhood that can’t really be explained.   A couple of years ago, before we started Murph, I tried to give a speech about what this workout means to me and all I did was get choked up and cry in front of everyone there. Even though I didn’t really say much I think it was recognized that this workout isn’t just another workout to me. I’m only here because of men like Michael P. Murphy, who laid their lives on the line for me. Every time I look at my beautiful boys, my beautiful wife, and everything I have, I think of them. I miss and love you all, until ValHalla.

In memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005.

This workout was one of Mike’s favorites and he’d named it “Body Armor”. From here on it will be referred to as “Murph” in honor of the focused warrior and great American who wanted nothing more in life than to serve this great country and the beautiful people who make it what it is.

Partition the pull-ups, push-ups, and squats as needed. Start and finish with a mile run. If you’ve got a twenty pound vest or body armor, wear it.
