Mark your calendars! Our next ACF Potluck Social Game Night is June 11th at 7 pm and is also a co-ed baby shower for Coach Janae and Nima! We’ll have games, food, drinks, and tons of fun. All are welcome, whether you know the couple or not, and it’ll be a fun time for our little village. If you haven’t been to an ACF Social night before, this is a great time to come meet some new people outside of your regular WOD pod. If you would like to buy the baby boy a gift, Janae and Nima are registered at Target.

And now, this: ACF Blog:  We will continue posting a variety of blogposts including general information, community information and reminders, thoughts and rants, and motivational bits.  For today, it’s on the WOD page, but from here on out we’ll post in the Animas CrossFit Blog, so keep an eye on that feed as well.

tribe

We are a tribe and we are diverse, strong, resilient, and healthy.  None of us are as strong alone as we are together and by our continued time spent together in workouts, social events, and whatever else is going on, we continue to strengthen our tribe.  Just as we remember to cheer each other on in a WOD, we need to remember to cheer each other on through life’s obstacles and celebrations.  We need to remember to build our tribe everyday by meeting and be-friending others in our gym and others that walk into our lives spontaneously.  There is some astonishing evidence of how our mental health and well-being change when we are, or aren’t, part of a “tribe”, a brotherhood, or a close-knit community.  If we are striving to work on our overall wellness, let’s not forget to strengthen our bonds with others through the strengthening of our tribe.  We do this in small moments of awareness and presence in our interactions with each other and a by committment to doing this on a regular basis.

Not to get all preachy, but…. One of the coolest things about CrossFit is the community that it tends to inspire, but we need to tend to our community to make it stronger.  We (Jesse and Steph) feel the positive effects of our ACF tribe on a regular basis and we hope that you guys do as well.  Each and every one of us should feel the effects, whether it’s an ACF lifer or a brand new member; someone just like you, or someone worlds away from your understanding.   So let’s commit to making sure we all do this through our own actions, by making new and old members feel welcomed with open arms and open minds.  If there is someone in class you have never seen before, start a conversation or cheer them on.  That simple move could be life (or at least day) altering for anyone on a negative trajectory.  We are so much more powerful in each other’s lives than we know or give ourselves credit for, so let’s own it and act on it, because it feels so good for us and for everyone around us.  You guys strengthen, motivate, inspire, and save us on SO many occasions, and we are grateful beyond words for our tribe.
